Meadowood Music, a wonderful stringed instrument specialty shop, begUn as the dream of husband & wife, Mike & Paula. In 1995, the couple conceived of a music store where excellent service & products are the norm, a place where people make & share music, a store that offers high quality musical gear at great prices. In 2000, they opened Meadowood in Kutztown PA. In 2005, they moved the store to its current location on route 222 in Blandon, PA.

 

The store offers more than instruments & accessories. Meadowood offers expert repair & restoration of all stringed instruments. Mike builds and restores violins & is an authorized Martin Guitar warrantee service technician. A cadre of fine musicians offer high quality musical instruction at Meadowood.

 

Meadowood offers this website as a way for people near & far to visit the store on-line. It shows the store inventory (we do our best to keep it current) & provides info that's useful to both amateur & professional musicians & music lovers: care tips for stringed instruments, links to websites that promote live music, contacts for local musicians, info & links for workshops, camps, schools, festivals, radio stations & links to manufacturers that supply Meadowood with its fine wares.

FALL 2024 MUSIC AT CLAY ON MAIN

FALL 2024 CONCERT SERIES AT CLAY ON MAIN

FRIDAY EVENINGS - OCT thru DEC

Clay on Main's Fall Concert Season will run from Oct 4 through December 13, 2024. Only two concerts remain in this season.

 

These Friday evenings include a half-hour performance by one act​ from 

7:15 to 7:45 in the "Front Room" (it used to be the living room)

followed by another act from

8:00 to 10:00 in the "Half Moon Cafe" (it used to be space for an in-home business including Heffily’s Bakery, a factory for military products, a hosiery mill and, then, a machine shop). Since the building became "Clay on Main” in 1999, the space in the performing venue - the Half Moon Cafe. It's VERY COOL!

The next pair of concerts for Fall 2024 is on Nov. 29.

Continue your Thanksgiving the Friday after the big family gathering. You'll be so glad you did!

Margaret Young will open the evening in the Front Room at Clay on Main at 7:15, with Baroque Selections on Solo Violin. She will play until 7:45.

Like Bach? You'll love this performance. 

 

With still more fine stringed instrumental music, the Sunday Sinfonia Quartet will perform from 8:00 to 10:00 in the Half Moon Cafe. If you saw them last Fall, it'll be know that they'll be just as wonderful this year. Judy Terwilliger (violin/viola), 

Dana Allaband (violin/viola), Paul Eppley (violin), and John Pankratz (cello) have a fresh new repertoire ready for us. If you missed this group last year, don't make that mistake again! It's going to be lovely.

THIS CHARMING CONCERT SERIES IS A GEM, A JOY TO EVERYONE WHO PARTICIPATESS, AND A TREASURE WITHIN OUR COMMUNITY. IT ALSO HELPS GENERATE REVENUE FOR CLAY ON MAIN, ALLOWING IT TO CONTINUE AS AN ARTS RESOURCE FOR US ALL.  

Clay on Main is at 313 Main Street, Oley.

Parking is in the nearby Church lot (not on the street, please). Doors open at 7:00.

Front Room acts are compensated by a tip jar - please be generous.

Half Moon Cafe acts are compensated by a $15 admission for those 12 and over

FAA MODERNIZATION AND REFORM ACT OF 2012

Federal Law Requires Airlines to Allow Musical Instruments on Planes

Thank the American Federation of Musicians (AFM), for lobbying Congress (for many years) to get legislation that protects musicians who travel by air with their instruments. Acccording to the FAA Modernization and Reform Act of 2012, musicians may carry an instrument onto the cabin of an aircraft if the instrument can be stowed safely in one of the approved carry-on locations, and there is still space for the instrument at the time the passenger boards. This ruling means that musicians need to board as early as possible to ensure that there's space. For more details about how to board early and what to do if an instrument is too large for carry-on storage, read on.
